Kyle Verreynne will miss the final three Rothesay County Championship matches of the 2026 season after being recalled home early by Cricket South Africa.

World Test champion wicketkeeper Verreynne, 29, had originally signed to play all of Nottinghamshire’s Championship matches this summer during his third spell at Trent Bridge.

However, under the terms of his contract with his home governing body, he - along with many other South Africans currently playing in England - have been recalled home early.

Verreynne will therefore make his final appearance for Notts this summer in the fixture against Leicestershire at Trent Bridge, and will miss games against Hampshire, Sussex, and Yorkshire.

“It’s not ideal that we’re losing Kyle at this point in the season, but we understand the decision made by Cricket South Africa, and he returns with our best wishes for a busy winter,” said Director of Cricket, Mick Newell.

“We’ve been very happy to have Kyle with us for most of the summer, during which his contributions have put us in a strong position as we head towards the final few matches.

“There’s always a lot of hard work being done behind the scenes to make sure we’re prepared for every outcome, and we hope to confirm a replacement for Kyle as soon as we’re able to.”
