Persistent rain put paid to any prospect of play in The Blaze’s Vitality Blast clash with Somerset at Trent Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

Despite the toss taking place as scheduled, and home captain Kirstie Gordon opting to field first, that was as far as the action got, with intermittent but frequent showers from 2:30pm.

Pitch inspections were scheduled over the course of the afternoon, but no positive news was able to emerge as the covers remained in place for the majority of the time.

As the cut-off time approached, the decision was made by umpires Amy Clark and Neil Pratt to abandon efforts to get the game on, leaving both sides with two points.

The Blaze are next in action away to Surrey at the Kia Oval on Wednesday, 11 June, beginning at 6:30pm.
