Dillon Pennington and Olly Stone combined to blow Hampshire’s top order away as Nottinghamshire gave themselves a strong chance of a final day victory.
The fast-bowling pair returned six wickets together as the visitors were reduced to 61-6 in their second innings on a rapidly-moving day three, still 117 short of their victory target.
Joe Clarke had earlier helped Notts ride out a tricky situation in their own second innings, before the bowling attack stepped forward to keep the hosts in control of the contest.
