Josie Groves has signed for Lancashire on a permanent deal, with The Blaze having agreed to release her from her current contract with immediate effect.
A graduate of the Lightning Academy prior to the side’s move to Trent Bridge as The Blaze, leg-spinner Groves made 63 appearances across the past four seasons, taking 58 wickets.
"I’ve had an amazing time with Lightning and The Blaze," she said.
"While I feel this is the right time in my career for me to move on, the club and the people here have taught me so much about myself, and I've loved every second on and off the pitch.
"I’d like to thank all the coaches and support staff here who have helped me and challenged me to be better.
"This group is really special, and winning the treble was a great way to finish off my time at Trent Bridge."
22-year-old Groves claimed four trophies during her time at Trent Bridge. She was part of victorious teams on Finals Day as her side lifted the 2024 Charlotte Edwards Cup, 2026 Vitality Blast and 2026 Vitality T20 Women’s County Cup, and made four appearances in the triumphant 2026 Metro Bank One Day Cup campaign.
“I’d like to thank Josie for her contributions for Lightning and The Blaze. She can be proud to have played her part as The Blaze have established themselves as a consistent force across formats,” said Head Coach Craig Cumming.
“In graduating from the Academy in this area and making an impact at senior level, she has set a good example for all of those looking to follow in her footsteps in our player pathway.
“We are currently fortunate to enjoy a huge amount of strength in depth in all areas of the team, so we wish Josie all the best as she takes up an opportunity at Lancashire.”
