Marie Kelly hit 45 to back up Grace Ballinger’s 3/24 as The Blaze defeated Warwickshire Bears by four wickets to maintain their 100% start to the Vitality Blast.

Kelly, standing in as captain in place of World Cup-bound regular skipper Kirstie Gordon, top-scored for The Blaze, with her score coming from 32 balls and containing seven boundaries.

She was well supported by identical scores of 27 from Charli Knott and Emma Jones, with the latter unbeaten, as the visitors chased down the Bears’ 158-8 with four balls to spare.

Ballinger’s haul, alongside Lucy Higham claiming 2/16 from three overs, helped The Blaze drag Warwickshire back from 94-0 at halfway to a far more chaseable total.

It was a pursuit that Kelly’s charges made a flying start to, reaching 94-1 themselves after ten overs, but unlike their hosts, they kept their cool to complete a solid victory in the final over.
