Pakistan international Tayyab Tahir has signed for Nottinghamshire, and will be available for the Outlaws’ next three group-stage games in the Metro Bank One Day Cup.

The right-hander has scored over 9,500 career runs, with 3,691 of them coming in the List A format, where he has passed 50 on 29 occasions and averages 43.94.

His domestic career in Pakistan included a stint under Paul Franks at Central Punjab in 2022, when Notts’ One Day Cup Head Coach guided his side to victory in the Pakistan One-Day Cup and an unbeaten campaign in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.

“From my time with Tayyab in Pakistan, I know he’s a player of real pedigree,” said Franks.

“His track record speaks for itself, and his positive character will fit right into our dressing room

“When we signed George Munsey for the 50-over competition, we knew he’d miss some games this week through international duty with Scotland, so we were keen to secure the best possible replacement for this week’s games.

“Tayyab is a quality player, and we’re looking forward to having him with us.”

Capped 19 times by his country, Tahir has represented Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans in the Pakistan Super League.

He will be available for the Outlaws’ trips to face Kent (2 August) and Gloucestershire (9 August), along with Notts’ home fixture against Northants Steelbacks at Chesterfield (7 August).

“I’m really excited to play county cricket for Notts,” he said.

“I loved playing under Franksie in Pakistan, and the season we were together was one of the best I’ve had in my life.

“He was one of the best coaches I worked with, he was so approachable and created a really good environment.

“I will try my best to make a difference, and I want to make sure my time with Notts is memorable.”
