Scotland international George Munsey has signed an extension to his Notts Outlaws contract and will be available for a number of Metro Bank One Day Cup games, beginning with tomorrow’s home fixture against Leicestershire.

Munsey was the Outlaws’ leading run-scorer in the side’s run to the Vitality Blast semi-finals, scoring exactly 500 runs and hitting a tournament-best five half-centuries.

The 33-year-old has more than 150 white-ball caps for his country, and was selected in his nation’s squad for the recent ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.

He will join up with his country again for their ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2 fixtures next week, but is available for this week's matches against Leicestershire and Lancashire, along with August's knockout rounds should the Outlaws qualify.

He will be part of the Outlaws squad for tomorrow's clash at Trent Bridge, with Jack Haynes and Ben Slater absent through injury.

“We’re delighted to have the opportunity to add a player of George’s calibre to our 50-over squad,” said Paul Franks, Notts Outlaws’ Head Coach for the Metro Bank One Day Cup.

“It’s rare to find a batter who can score as consistently as he did in the Blast this year, and he was a great fit as a character too.

“He’ll add extra experience and quality to our top order, and provide another sounding board for our younger homegrown players.

"With Jack and Ben both missing out through injury, adding George to our squad is essential as we try and build on our current position in the qualification places.”

The Outlaws have won their opening two matches in this season’s Metro Bank One Day Cup, defeating Somerset by four wickets before beating Warwickshire by three wickets, both at the John Fretwell Centre, Sookholme.

The competition’s final will be staged at Trent Bridge for a sixth successive season, with the tournament’s two leading sides set to meet in the showpiece on Sunday 20 September.
