Paul Franks feels his Outlaws are ready for the challenge at the Kia Oval, as Notts travel to Surrey needing victory to guarantee a place in the Metro Bank One Day Cup knockout stages.

Franks, Head Coach for the 50-over competition, has named a 14-player squad for the fixture, with Dillon Pennington and George Munsey both returning.

With one game to go, the Outlaws sit second in Group A – a spot which would secure a home quarter-final on Friday 14 August.

Surrey sit two places below Notts on the same number of points, with Lancashire and Kent also having reached the 16-point mark.

It leaves plenty to play for on the final day of the group stages.

“We've got 24 hours to scrub up and get on the bus and get down to London and take on our next challenge,” he said after the Outlaws suffered a narrow defeat at Cheltenham.

“This competition is all about challenges. We had a bit of a gap between fixtures at the start of the competition, then we’re have a busy end to the group stage, but we've tried to map that out as best we can from the start.

“The guys are gutted because they know there's a little bit more in there. I think we'll scrub up okay and we'll go again on Tuesday.”

Gloucestershire secured victory in the final over at Cheltenham on Sunday – an outcome which left Franks rueing fine margins, despite the effort and commitment shown by the team.

“It came down to moments,” he said.

“I think we thought we were on for north of 310 [with the bat], which we felt would have been a really good score, but losing the wickets at the end took the wind out of ourselves.

“But it's been tight. The lads have been brilliant. They've stuck at it so well today, and I'm proud of them for doing that, and I’m sure they can take that into the last round.”
