Liam Patterson-White claimed four wickets before Ben Slater’s 60 saw Nottinghamshire to an ultimately comfortable draw on the final day of their Rothesay County Championship clash against Somerset in Taunton.
Patterson-White picked up all four home wickets that fell on the final day as Somerset declared shortly after lunch on 407-5, with Tom Kohler-Cadmore following James Rew to a century.
With the visitors set a nominal 417 to win - or, more accurately, 45 overs in which to bat to secure a draw - Slater then soaked up 103 balls for 60.
The draw was eventually agreed upon shortly after 17:15 in bright sunlight, with the Notts total standing at 140-3.
The first order of the day for the visitors was to break the weighty second-wicket partnership between Kohler-Cadmore and day three centurion Rew, which they did relatively quickly.
Minutes after Kohler-Cadmore had reached his century and moved to 104, he aimed a wild swipe at Patterson-White, who needed no further invitation to take a couple of steps to his left and snaffle the steepling catch off his own bowling.
That ended the stand that had yielded 224 runs across exactly 57 overs, and one soon brought two as Rew fell shortly afterwards, pinned lbw by Patterson-White for 122.
Tom Abell and Tom Lammonby began to up the scoring rate as the morning wore on, and added 80 in 14 overs before the former became Patterson-White’s third victim.
A fine balancing catch from Jack Haynes on the long-on boundary did for the former Somerset skipper, who had made a 38-ball 42, before Lammonby went to his fifty from 70 deliveries.
His later dismissal for 69, the victim of another catch on the rope - this time by Slater - gave Patterson-White a fourth wicket on the stroke of lunch.
After three overs of the afternoon session, stand-in Somerset captain Craig Overton decided he had seen enough, and led his side back in, in turn handing Notts their nominal target.
It was a conclusion that hardly ever threatened to turn on its head, as Slater and captain Haseeb Hameed began confidently, bringing up their fifty partnership in less than an hour.
The duo shepherded Notts through to tea at 86 without loss, with the break coming shortly after Slater had posted his fifty from 74 balls, with the knock featuring nine fours.
The dismissals of both openers, Slater caught by Kohler-Cadmore off Alfie Ogborne and Hameed lbw to Leach, did provoke a little tension inside the venue.
However, despite the further wicket of Joe Clarke - unluckily bowled by Leach, who finished with 2/26 - there were no further jangling nerves.
An ultimately unbroken stand for the fourth wicket between Freddie McCann and Jack Haynes of 36 soaked up the last remnants of pressure and sealed a 13-point draw.
