Freddie McCann’s 81 helped Nottinghamshire’s Second XI to a 33-run win over Derbyshire in a 50-over friendly at Lady Bay.

Opening the batting, McCann hit 11 fours and two sixes in his 78-ball stay at the crease, helping the Outlaws enjoy a positive opening powerplay.

Joe Pocklington provided middle-order runs with 40 from 50 balls, while Farhan Ahmed added a brisk 28 from 20 as Notts racked up 321 before being dismissed after 49 overs.

Derbyshire’s strong start was underpinned by Mitch Wagstaff’s century at the top of the order, with Amrit Basra adding 54 at number four, but no other Falcons batter passed 30 as the visitors’ chase subsided.

Pocklington recorded standout figures of 3/49 from ten overs, with Rob Lord taking 3/70, Tom Giles 2/59, and James Hayes and McCann taking a wicket apiece.

It was Lord who secured the matchwinning wicket, removing Matt Stewart off his own bowling as Derbyshire were dismissed for 288 in 46.3 overs.
