Trent Bridge will host commemorations of the first Australian cricket team to tour internationally, as the 1868 Aboriginal cricket team are honoured with events nationwide.
The tour will see descendents of the trailblazing First XI visit the UK – some for the first time – to retrace the steps of their ancestors.
The team’s experiences are documented in the book Cricket Walkabout, the fourth edition of which will be launched at Trent Bridge during the fixture between Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire.
Historic artefacts from the Aboriginal side’s travels will be on display to members in the Clubhouse, located in the Derek Randall Suite, during the first two days of the Rothesay County Championship clash (22 and 23 June) – where the book will also be on sale.
Displays about the Cricket Walkabout story will also be available to all supporters during the lunch interval on days one and two, located in the Rice Bar on the first floor of the ticket office building – where a lunchtime talk will also take place.
