Nottinghamshire finished runners-up in the Second XI T20 competition, defeated by three wickets in the showpiece at Wormsley by Warwickshire.

Having earlier beaten Hampshire in the day's first semi-final, with Sam Seecharan's 75 and Freddie McCann's 3/27 the key contributions, a Ben Martindale-led Notts opted to bat first in the final and proceeded past 50 in the opening four overs.

Martindale was first to depart for a brisk 19, but opening partner McCann would top-score for the Outlaws with 32 before becoming one of Olly Hannon-Dalby's four victims.

Sam Seecharan made 31 from 16 before being run-out at the non-striker's end, while Dane Schadendorf hit 29 from the same number of deliveries.

However, Bears were able to pick up wickets at regular intervals to restrict their opponents to 148 from 16.5 overs.

In reply, Lyndon James and Rob Lord made breakthroughs in three successive overs to leave Warwickshire 39/3 in the sixth over.

The contest remained on a knife-edge as Rob Lord (2/30), Thomas Giles (1/10) and left-arm spinner Joe Pocklington (2/19) secured scalps of their own.

But an unbeaten 28 from 16 balls from Ethan Bamber proved decisive, with Warwickshire overhauling their target with four balls to spare.
