Patel’s 5/109 came from a marathon 31-over bowling effort in Derbyshire’s first innings as the hosts deckared their innings closed on 504/9.
In reply, there were half-centuries for Adi Badge and Oscar Butcher, in addition to Ali’s 98, as Notts made 435.
In reply, Patel added a further three scalps to his impressive match haul as Derbyshire reached 123/5 before hands were shaken.
The fixture followed a 50-over encounter with Derbyshire in the U18s County Plate, with the Falcons victorious by four wickets.
Notts’ Toby Lambert made 109 from 102 deliveries as the visitors chalked up 276/8 at the County Ground, but Derbyshire ultimately overhauled the target in the final over.
