Notts Outlaws made it back-to-back Metro Bank One Day Cup victories beating Hampshire by 4 wickets in Southampton.

Key contributions with the bat included Jack Haynes coming within three runs of a second consecutive hundred, while captain Haseeb Hameed scored 89 as Notts chased down 291.

Joe Pocklington was the pick of the bowlers taking three wickets as Hampshire finished on 290/7 with Nick Gubbins finishing on 144*.

Skipper Haseeb Hameed won his second consecutive toss and chose the same decision that brought victory in Cardiff by bowling first.

Brett Hutton came back into the team and opened the bowling alongside Rob Lord. The Hampshire openers stuck in well and raced to 50/0 towards the end of the first powerplay until James Hayes struck.

Hayes removed Ali Orr for 33 after a great take down the leg side from Dane Schadendorf. Hampshire skipper Nick Gubbins continued to motor on as his side went past 100, and he went past his half-century in the 19th over.

Joe Pocklington was brought in to find a breakthrough which he duly did, removing Fletcha Middleton who found Freddie McCann at long on.

At the half-way stage, Hampshire were 132/2 until the Pocklington and McCann combination struck again soon after. This time removing McMullen, in similar fashion.

McCann then turned from catcher to bowler as he removed Prest’s leg stump for 11 in the 31st over, as the hosts’ number five played across the line.

Ben Mayes joined Gubbins at the crease as the latter moved closer to his century, however the return of Hayes saw Mayes caught by Pocklington in the deep.

Gubbins though gave nothing away as he completed his hundred from 99 balls, and saw Hampshire 203/5 with ten overs remaining.

Gubbins and Organ put on 46 as a sixth wicket partnership in the last ten overs until Pocklington took his third, removing Organ. However, Gubbins' partnership with Neal added 47 from the final 26 balls of their innings to see the hosts finish with a total of 290.

Ben Martindale and Ben Slater put on a very solid partnership in their victory over Glamorgan on Sunday, however Martindale fell early in the third over here.

It brought in the in-form Jack Haynes, who looked to be continuing from his century on Sunday, finding the boundary with his first ball.

The pair saw Notts to 43/1 at the end of the powerplay before they soon reached their fifty partnership with 13 runs in the 13th over.

Jack Haynes reached his third consecutive half-century from just 42 balls before Ben Slater was bowled by Eddie Jack for 31 in the same over.

Hameed joined Haynes at the crease and pushed the pair to 118/2 at the halfway stage of the reply.

The pair sped to their 50 partnership as Hameed settled in and Haynes moved ever closer to a second consecutive hundred.

He looked nailed-on to reach that milestone until a top edge from a pull shot fell to Abbott at mid-on, as Haynes had to depart for 97.

McCann joined Hameed with Notts 168/3, and managed to smash a four and a six on his way to making 15 before he was caught after a mis-timed shot.

The skipper then felt it was time to step on the accelerator, moving to his half-century with a four followed by a maximum.

His six pushed Notts score over 200 meaning they required 91 runs from the final 12 overs.

A flurry of boundaries from Lyndon James and Hameed saw Notts needing 68 from their final ten overs with six wickets in hand.

With Notts needing 37 to win from 38 balls, Hameed was bowled looking to attack for an excellent 86.

Lyndon James and Dane Schadendorf put on an important 26 partnership to push the Outlaws closer to victory before James and Pocklington struck the winning runs.
