Liam Patterson-White completed the seventh five-wicket haul of his career as Nottinghamshire needed only two hours of the final day to see off neighbours Leicestershire by ten wickets at Uptonsteel Grace Road.

After the Foxes had resumed on 215-7, leading by 33, left-arm spinner Patterson-White took the final three home wickets to complete figures of 5/53 and wrap the innings up for 254.

It then took Ben Slater and Haseeb Hameed 58 minutes to race to a target of 73, with Slater completing a half-century off 55 balls with the winning runs - a six over cover off Josh Hull.

While Leicestershire avoided the ignominy of an innings defeat, it did not take Patterson-White long at the start of day four to ensure the visitors would only be chasing a meagre target.

Tom Scriven popped up a simple catch to Jack Haynes at short leg from only the fourth ball of the morning to depart for two, before Ajaz Patel followed for 15 after being bowled by one that spun sharply from the rough.

Ben Green was able to resist alongside last man Josh Hull for a further 14 overs, but in that time, the hosts increased their advantage by only 18 as the pressure continued to build.

It finally told when Patterson-White removed Green via an Olly Stone catch at backward point to complete his haul and ensure the visitors had an opportunity to win before lunch.

While they didn’t quite do so before 13:00 exactly, umpires Richard Illingworth and Surendiran Shanmugam allowed the teams to stay on the field beyond the scheduled interval to complete the job.

The duo of Hameed and Slater responded by confidently careering their way to the required runs, with Slater taking the lead role with seven fours and a six.

The last of those - a belt over cover - was the shot that finished the job and ensured Nottinghamshire would take 23 points from the contest.

Barring the outcome of Somerset’s game against Yorkshire in Taunton, the Green and Golds also rose temporarily top of Division One.
