Georgia Elwiss described fellow century-maker Kathryn Bryce as a “dream to bat with” after the duo’s record-breaking stand teed up a big Metro Bank One Day Cup win over Durham.

Elwiss hit 134 and Bryce made 136 as the duo put on 233 for the third wicket, a record for the women’s One Day Cup competition, as part of The Blaze’s eventual total of 356-4.

In subsequently bowling Durham out for 217 despite an afternoon rain shower threatening to throw the game off course, The Blaze kept hold of top spot with four group-stage games to go.

Reflecting on the win, former England international Elwiss praised Scotland captain Bryce, and provided an insight into switching back to 50-over cricket after The Hundred.

She also spoke highly of the environment around the squad as The Blaze stayed in pole position to qualify for the One Day Cup knockouts after lifting the Vitality Blast title last month.
