Having had an upbeat first impression of Trent Bridge, Moises Henriques is excited to get started as Notts Outlaws kick off their Vitality Blast campaign tomorrow night.

The Outlaws’ newest Australian addition jetted in from Sydney earlier this week, and forms part of a 15-strong squad to take on Bears in Blast Off on Friday night at 6:30pm.

“It’s lovely to be here! I’m settling in pretty nicely,” beamed Henriques.

“I’ve had a lot of good friends come from Nottinghamshire to New South Wales and the Sixers, or the other way around, so I’ve heard a lot of terrific things about this place.

“It’s nice to be able to get here and start to experience it all. I think we’re going to have a ripping group that’s ready to tear in, and if I can help accelerate some of their learnings, that’s great.

“Obviously, at the same time, I’ll be trying to win us some games with bat and ball as well.”

It may come as a surprise to many that, despite his volume of cricketing experience across the globe, playing at Trent Bridge will be a new experience for Henriques.

However, it is one that the 38-year-old is ready to embrace without fear, as he prepares for his second stint in the Vitality Blast.

“I’m looking forward to it. It’ll be a new experience, but I’m excited to see what comes of it,” he said.

“No matter what happens, I’m going to learn from it, I’ll enjoy it, and hopefully the next time I play here, I’ll be a little bit better.”

The Sydney Sixers stalwart will certainly have to hit the ground running, as, in Bears, the Outlaws welcome a side that have topped the North Group for three years in a row.

For Henriques, though, the challenge is not one to be shied away from, and should be faced down with a mindset that in order to be the best, you have to beat the best.

“It’s going to be a good start. I was having a little look at their team today, and it’s an impressive list,” said Henriques.

“When you have guys like Moeen Ali, who I’ve watched play international cricket for a long time now, it’s really good.

“I love the way he goes about his cricket, and I love watching him play. He’s one of those guys who you can tell are very courageous in the way they go about the game.

“I’m excited to play against someone as good as he is in a competition like this. It’s good when you can actually test yourself against the best players in the world in any format.

“Tom Latham is another who I’ve always watched and respected from afar, and they have a lot of other really solid cricketers in amongst that as well.

“They had a terrific season last year, so we’ve got a pretty tough start, but this is T20 cricket, and the boys are coming off some really positive performances and positive games, so hopefully we can continue what we’ve been doing so far.”
