Kathryn Bryce says the key for The Blaze to overcome Kent in the quarter-finals of the Vitality T20 Women’s County Cup lies in staying grounded.
“There’s a lot of expectation, but I think we just have to try and focus on ourselves and our skills, and not look too far ahead in the game,” said Bryce.
The 27-year-old is part of a 14-strong group that will travel to Canterbury, with a place at Finals Day, staged in Taunton on Monday, awaiting the winners.
“We’re all excited to get down to Kent and take them on. There’s a little bit more added pressure when you know it’s a quarter-final, but it’ll be exciting,” added Bryce.
“We just want to take it ball-by-ball and play what’s in front of us.”
Bryce notes that while The Blaze’s preparation is markedly different owing to the fact that Kent ply their trade in Tier Two of the women’s game, their approach is not.
“They have some quality players in their side as well, so we still have to go out there, execute, and perform well,” she said.
“There’s a little bit less analysis and information on the players than there might be for a Tier One side, but they have some good players with bat and ball.
“We just have to be adaptable and make sure we stay in the moment.”
